Patrick Wilmot may be sitting in 2nd for the championship, seven points behind series leader Flannery (standings here), but he’s confident of a good result in tonight’s final race at Road Atlanta.
“I think the last race should be interesting between Flannery and myself,” Wilmot said. “We have had close races at Road Atlanta together leading up to this point but one way or another I plan on putting the #69 $1000 dollar bill SRF on the top step of the podium.”
Flannery is, of course, no stranger to on-track contact, having been shoved unceremoniously out of the way at the first series race at Tsukuba. And, going by what Wilmot had to say about his intentions for the final, Flannery had better keep an eye on his rearview. We reached out to Flannery for comment, but he did not respond.
As for his thoughts on driving the Spec Racer Ford in the final race, Wilmot proclaimed, “You’d be amazed at how easily a car with a ramp as a front nose can move another vehicle out of the way.”
It’s all to play for in the series final. Join us…
